Godzilla Hotel

Oh, no! Godzilla is attacking Shinjuku?!
あ、ゴジラが新宿を襲撃してる?!

Look out!
He is right beside the hotel window!
ほら！ホテルのすぐ外に！

This is Gracery Hotel Shinjuku, known as Godzilla hotel. You can have meals with watching Godzilla in front of you. I ordered a set menu of hashed beef. It comes with salad, soup and coffee. At twelve noon, Godzilla roars as a time signal and exhale smoke!
I could not take any photos of it though.
ここはゴジラのホテルで有名な場所ホテルグレイスリー新宿。目の前にゴジラを眺めながら食事ができます。私はハッシュドビーフのセットを注文しました。サラダ・スープに珈琲も付いてきます。
正午には時報の代わりにゴジラの吠える声がして、あの巨大な口から煙を吐きます。残念ながら煙を吐く写真は撮れませんでしたが。

I also got "Godzilla cake" as my desert. They have some kinds and I picked this one.
Look at the footprint on the plate. There are names of Godzilla on chocolate also. Fancy ones.
デザートに「ゴジラケーキ」を注文しました。いくつか種類がありますが、今回はこれを。
プレートの足跡に注目です。チョコレートにもGodzillaの名前があり、なかなか楽しめますよ。

After my lunch, I went out the deck and took some photos. This mouth exhale the smoke.
This place is only for people that accommodate or dine at the hotel.
食事の後はデッキに出て撮影してみました。ゴジラはこの口から煙を吐きます。
この場所は、宿泊者とカフェ利用者のみが利用できます。

Oh, boy! Godzilla destroyed the buildings and break into inside the room!  
あ！ビル群を壊してゴジラが室内に進入！

It was really fun day.　I'd like to come again.
とても楽しい日でした。また行きたいです。

Souvenir From Hokkaido

I got a souvenir from my friend. She has traveled around Hokkaido as a tourist though.
The sentence on the box says; "Returned from Abashiri Prison."
She was NOT released from the prison for sure!!
北海道に旅行してきたお友達からお土産を貰いました。
箱の文章はご覧の通り。このお菓子のネーミングに笑いました。
決して「おつとめから出所」した訳じゃありませんから！

Got Le Creuset Free Stuff

I got free gifts from the telephone company. It's sort of a mileage program.
I checked its retail price on the internet and learned that it cots 7,000 yen (about $70).
電話会社のポイントプログラムでこんなプレゼントをもらいました。
ネットでお値段調べたら、7,000円もするんだって！

What would I cook with this container?
この容器で何を調理しようかな？

Here is an enameled pot I have got from airline company by mileage program.
Yes, it's free gift too.
I've cooked curry, beef stew or have made some fruit jam so many times.
The color matched but I didn't plan it.
こちらは航空会社からもらった琺瑯鍋。マイレージポイント交換のため無料です。
これでカレー、ビーフシチューやジャムを何度も作りました。
色が今回のとマッチしてますが偶然そうなりました。

Recently I don't cook so much....
最近料理サボってるんだよね・・・

Nabeyaki Udon (Hot Potted Noodle)

It was very cold that day so I had hot potted noodle. We call it "Nabeyaki Udon."
Then I wanted to have some rice cake kind.
この日はとても寒い日だったので、鍋焼きうどんを食べに。
そしたらなぜか、餅が食べたくなってきました。

So I ordered sweet bean with rice cake and chestnut as my desert. It came with konbu cha (seaweed tea). All of them made me pretty warm.
と言う訳で、栗入りぜんざいを追加注文。昆布茶も付いてきて美味しく温まりました。

He loves to play with it. Just the same as usual.
オモチャで遊ぶのが大好きなテリー君。いつも通りだね。

Kamikouchi And Gosenjaku Hotel

If it is fine weather, you can see such beautiful scene in Kamikouchi.

上高地は天気が良ければこんな景色が楽しめます。
この画像はインターネットからのものです。

So I was hoping it might not rain on all the way.
上高地へ向かう途中、雨にならないよう願っていました。

Since personal vehicles are not allowed in Kamikouchi, if you come by your own car, you have to get off your vehicle here in Sawando and transfer either bus or taxi. I was on a tour bus so we could get through this area.
上高地は一般車両の進入は禁止されているので、個人の車で来た人は、ここ沢度でバスかタクシーに乗り換えます。私たちはツアーのバスに乗車しているので、そのまま通過することが出来ます。

Then we got to the place as on top of the photo but...
It began raining and I could not see the scene I have expected.
そして冒頭の写真の場所についたのですけど・・・
既に雨が降り始めていて、残念ながら期待していた景色を見ることはできません。

Despite such hazy weather, I found a very good view spot to stay.
It locates right in front of Kappabashi bridge.
でもそんな天気の中、とてもいい場所を見つけました。
かっぱ橋が目の前に見えるんです。

It is Gosenjaku Hotel.
Anyway I decided to have my lunch here. And.. why not some wine?
それは五千尺ホテルのレストランです。
そんなわけで、お昼はここで食べることに。せっかくだからワインも飲んじゃいました。

I ordered set menu and now they served some salad.
セットメニューのサラダが出てきました。

The main dish was beef stew. It was so good.
そしてメインのビーフシチューです。これは絶品でしたよ。

It includes cake and free refill coffee. That day they served Shinshu-apple tart. This was also good. When I think of all these stuffs; great view, good food and comfortable seat without wet.
I think it's worth to pay for.
珈琲とケーキも付いています。この日は信州リンゴを使用したタルトでした。これもまた美味。
これで目の前のかっぱ橋の景色を雨に濡れずに楽しめるなら、十分価値があると感じました。

It was raining harder and harder so I had to wait for enjoying autumn colors until next chance.
雨は激しくなる一方で、紅葉を楽しむのは次の機会ということになってしまいました。

Under such circumstance, I could see nice view as below from our tour bus..
それでも、ツアーバスからかろうじてこんな景色が見られました。

After all, we got back to Tokyo by the bullet train of gran class again.
再び快適なグランクラスの列車に乗って東京に戻りました。

Daioh Wasabi Farm in Azumino

After our Hakuba stay, we went to Daioh Wasabi Farm in Azumino.
Actually I have been here over 20 years ago. The water mills remain the same as those days. So beautiful.
白馬で一泊した翌朝、まずは安曇野にある大王わさび農場を訪ねます。
ここは２０年以上前に来たことがあるのですが、この水車小屋の景色は当時と変わらずの美しさです。

This is how wasabi cultivate.
わさびはこのように栽培されています。

The plant need pure clear running water.
綺麗な流水が必要なんです。

This farm had established about 100 years ago.
I like their "Wasabi ice cream" though. It was too chilly to have the one. I gave up to have it this time. May be next time.
ここは１００余年もの歴史があるそうです。
ここの「わさびアイスクリーム」が好きなのですが、この日は寒くて食べるのは諦めました。また次回ね。

There were a bit hazy clouds though, you can see Japan Alps over there.
やや雲がかかっていますが、日本アルプスの山並みが見えます。

Now, it's time to go Kamikouchi!
そしていよいよ上高地に向けて出発です！

But the clouds getting darker and it looked like rain. Is it alright?
でも、だんだん怪しい雲行きになってきてしまいました。天気大丈夫かな？

Matsukawa Canyon And Togakushi Shrine

After we enjoyed Obuse stay, we were heading to Matsukawa Canyon. I saw beautiful autumn colors on the way but I couldn't take any photos of them.
So I use the photo below from the internet.
小布施町の次は松川渓谷に向かいます。バスの中からこんな景色が見られたのですが、写真を撮ることが出来ず、インターネットより画像を拝借しました。

You see falls over there. My tour mates went down to see the fall from reverse side. It rather be tough thing to me so I didn't go with them.
向こう側に滝が見えています。ツアーの参加者たちは滝を裏側から見る場所まで移動しましたが、私にはそれは難しいのでやめました。

While I was waiting for my tour mates return, I took some photos and enjoyed beautiful autumn yellow on the mountains.
ツアーの皆さんを待っている間に、黄色く輝く山の美しさを楽しんでいました。

The next spot is Togakushi Shrine.
さて、その次に訪れたのは戸隠神社です。

This building id called Chu-sha. There are many segments of buildings. This one is sort of main one. Anyway, I prayed for it to receive divine grace.
こちらは中社と呼ばれる建物。この神社は建物がいくつかに分かれているのです。中社が中心のようでした。
とにかく、ご利益にあずかれるよう参拝しました。

It is told that you may receive divine grace of fortune here. So I got a lucky charm and hoped to get big amount of fortune. Can I make it? I do hope so.
こちらは金運を呼び込む神様だそうで、さっそくお守りを購入しました。大金を引き寄せられるかな？

From Torii gate toward parking lot. You can see water fountain on your right.
鳥居から駐車場へ向かう道。右手に見えるのは水飲み場。

You can drink water here free. Well, it was very cold that day and water was also very cold.
ここで自由に水を飲むことが出来ます。ただ、この日はとても寒く、水も冷たくなっていました。

There is a sacred tree in the precinct. They believe that there is the Holy Spirit lives in the tree. I just wished something good would happen on me.
境内にあるご神木。精霊が宿る木として古くから人々に崇められてきました。
私にもいいことがやって来ますように。

We went back to where we had come, this beautiful yellow path. Then we were heading to Hakuba where we have stayed that night.
美しい黄金色の道を戻り、この日の宿泊地、白馬に向かいます。

At Happou Hakuba, we stayed the hotel named Mominoki Hotel. There were no photos of them though. I really liked their open-aired bath. It was very comfortable. The photo below is from the hotel's official site.
Their hospitality is high quality one. They have buffet style dining. It rather be inconvenience for me since I have a problem on my legs. They kindly brought me a cart so I could get away from any trouble. What a great hospitality! I do appreciate the stuff's thoughtfulness.
白馬八方では樅木ホテルというところに泊まりました。ここの写真はありませんが、露天風呂が快適でした。下の写真はホテルのオフィシャルサイトからのものです。
このホテルのおもてなしはとても気が利いています。
食事はセルフサービス方式なので、脚の悪い私はトレーを運ぶのが不便です。そこにカートを持ってきて下さったので、スムーズに食事をすることが出来ました。スタッフの方の心使いに感謝です。
