Karuizawa 2013 #2 Meganebashi Bridge

This place, "Megane-bashi" Bridge, is also the one I wanted to visit.
こちらもずっと行きたかったスポット、「めがね橋」です。

Because of such steep slope they needed to go up, there used to be Rack railway ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rack_railway) runs from Yokokawa to Karuizawa. Then They had discontinued the railway after the Nagano shinkansen bullet train started.
Now a days, it is for hiker's path to walk though.
かつて、この横川駅-軽井沢間の急勾配を登るラック式の列車が走っていましたが、長野新幹線の開通により、横川駅から先の路線は廃止になりました。
現在では、その路線跡をハイキングコースとして歩くことが出来るのです。
Now we are heading to Karuizawa through the Usui Pass.
それでは旧碓氷峠を越えて、軽井沢に向かいます。

to be continued

I thought this bridge at the Emperor's Palace in Tokyo was the めがね橋? https://scontent-a-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/551077_10151182494088247_1068844762_n.jpg

There are many 眼鏡橋 exist all over Japan, however, this is one of a famous bridge in Karuizawa area.

Some others are:
The one in 皇居 as you know. Your photo is very beautiful. I really wished I could be there with you guys at that time.
