春を観賞するのと賞味するのと どちらがいいですか?　私ですか?　

勿論、両方いただきですワ!(笑)

So I went to see some more cherry blossoms at Sayama lake the other day. There is a nice Italian restaurant there also. It's a popular one, however, I could get my seat without a reservation. Lucky me!

というわけで狭山湖に桜を見に行ってきました。そこにはとても人気のイタリアンレストランもあります。幸運にも予約しないで席を確保できました。

 The photos above show the restaurant interior. I enjoyed cherry blossoms from my seat.

Then the dishes were brought to me. The first one was salad.

そして料理が運ばれてきました。先ずはサラダ。

The main dish was grilled chicken with red wine sauce.

そしてメインはワイン風味ソースのグリルチキン。

 I picked tiramisu as my desert.

デザートはティラミスを選びました。

In the end, I enjoyed coffee with such relaxing time.

Oh, what a wonderful moment!!

そして締めくくりはコーヒーで極上のリラックスタイム。

ああ、もう最高!!　　　　　　　　　　　　　

Costco Problem still

It's been more than a month since 311 earthquake. There were some deaths at Costco in Tokyo. See this site.
Also lot of cars have been buried inside the building still.
３月１１日の地震発生以来既に一ヶ月以上経過しています。東京にあるコストコでも死者が出ました。こちらをご覧下さい。
そしていまだに顧客の車が建物内に残されたままです。
But it happened in this place only. They said that this significant damage was caused form the earthquake of  311. I do NOT take their announcement. 
In fact, any other neighbor buildings, includes right next ones, have NO damages at all. NOT even a crack.
Why only at Costco building?
We all suspect illegal constructions. Otherwise it does not make sense.
But there aren't any more cover stories since then. Did they use a power to control the media?
I like Costco so this matter made me really disappointed.
しかしこれ(崩落事故)が起きたのはこの場所だけです。ホームページによれば東関東大震災による「甚大な被害」とのことですが、私はこれを鵜呑みにすることは出来ません。
実際、すぐ隣のビルを含めた近隣の建物には全く被害は出ていません。
何故コストコだけで起きたのでしょうか?
違法建築を疑わざるをえません。調査を開始したとの報道がありましたが、以来全く報道されていません。何らかの力を使って情報操作でもしているのでしょうか?
お気に入りの店だけに、大変失望しています。

Battery Charging Under the Sun!

It was fine clear day so I put these tools under the sun. I had 3 searchlights but 2 of them had broken down while we had cut backs. But it's hard to get new ones at a store now. So I got them from USA by mail order.

とても良い天気だったので、これらを太陽光下に置きました。懐中電灯は３本あったのですが、２本が停電中に壊れてしまいました。でも、現在それらを購入することは困難です。そこでアメリカからメールオーダーで取り寄せました。

Since we have Fukushima power plant problem, we face to cut back frequently. But their initial action made people in panic. Why? Because they announced about "the cut back" in a last minute!
福島原発の問題のため、計画停電が行われています。しかしその初動対応は我々にパニックを引き起こしました。
何故パニックか?　それはこの無計画な停電計画を実施直前に発表したからです。
　
It was absolutely "last minute" matter. In fact we have learned about the cut back the night before but we were not sure which area would would start first.
They said they divided the area into some groups but none of us knew which group we would belong to. How come we could know?
停電のことを知らされたのは実施される前夜という、本当に直前になってからでした。グループ分けした地域で翌日早朝から実施との発表でしたが、自分の地域がどのグループに属するのか、全く周知されていない状態です。一体どうやって、所属グループを知ればいいんですか?

The only info they have given to us was a phone number and web site. Neither of them could work. They didn't think of localized torrential access phenomenon.

What kind of fool are they?

東電の電話番号１つとサイトアドレスのみが記されているだけで、私も情報を得ようとアクセスを試みましたが、全く繋がりませんでした。アクセスが集中・殺到することを考えなかったのでしょうか?　愚かにも程がありますね。

We had no time to prepare for. That's how people have cornered the market in substitute lighting things. Almost all of flash lights, candles, portable cook stove and portable radio have sold out in everywhere within a day.
What the government said was, "don't be in panic."
Ha! Who made us so? They are total aero-heads. I can't believe why they are in top positions of the government and the power plant company.
The workers on the spot at the plants are the most courageous ones in the world though. What a gap between them! Lamentable!!
私達地域住民には準備の時間は全くありませんでした。人々が停電時、明かりの 代用品を懸念するのは当然の成り行きでしょう。周辺全ての店で、懐中電灯、ロウソク、カセットコンロや携帯ラジオなどが、その日の内に売り切れになりました。それでも政府の言い分は「パニックにならないように」とのこと。
一体誰がその原因を引き起こしているんですか! こんな「オツムの中身が??」な人達が政府や東電のトップだなんて信じられないです。
現場で命がけで働いている世界一勇敢な人々とは大違いです。全く情けない!!

Give battery on those who aero-heads and charge them!!
誰かこの空っぽ頭にも(頭脳の）電池を与え充電してください!

While I was writing this article, they announced that the cut back may be end soon. I know we still need to save the power as much as possible.
この記事を書いている間に、計画停電はまもなく終息に向かうとの発表がありました。でも、引き続き節電はしないといけませんね。

Terry has got a diaper

Yes, he got a diaper! Not for aged nursing care.

He had diarrhea and threw things up the other day. So Terry's Mama took him to vet. Poor Terry got three different kinds of shots and was given a prescription.  According to vet, poor boy got some food that he couldn't accept.

テリー君、おむつ着用でしたけど、介護犬ではありませんよ。
先日、下痢と嘔吐があり、テリーママが獣医さんに飛んでいきました。可哀相なテリー君は３本も注射をされたうえ、お薬も処方されてしまいました。

獣医さんによると、何か受け付けない食品を食べた為だろうということでした。

Well, my house was awfully bad.... Think of its smell. It was absolutely HELL!!!!! AAAHHHH!!!

So I sprayed deodorizer everywhere.
Now he is recovered. But the room smells so stinky skunky still!!

それにしても、私の家が酷いことに・・・その臭いときたら、もう最悪!!!　ぎゃ～～～!!!

家中に消臭スプレーしまくりでしたよ。

今はすっかり快復したテリー君ですけど、お部屋の方はまだクチャ～い!!

Oh well, even though his diaper can be as his new fashion?

それにしても、おむつでさえニューファッションに見えませんか?

Somei-yoshino

Somei-yoshino is a kind of cherry blossom and it has just begun to bloom.

 ソメイヨシノは桜の花の種類です。今丁度咲き始めています。

So I can see such beautiful ones everywhere in a moment. But I don't know if I go to see them there. So I picked up some photos that I've taken before.

間もなくあちこちでこの美しい花を見ることが出来るでしょう。でも私は花見に行かれるか分かりません。そこで以前に撮影した写真を載せてみました。

If I can make it, I would go to my favorite restaurant named Mame-raku  (Japanese language only). It has the best position to enjoy the blossoms as the photo below.

もし出来れば、お気に入りのレストラン豆らくに行きたいです。ここには下の写真にあるように、花を楽しむのに最高の場所があるのです。

　

Beginning of Cherry Blossom Season 2011

The Meteorological Agency officially announced the cherry blossoms are in bloom yesterday. We can see various kinds of the blossoms everywhere in a moment.
昨日気象庁より桜の開花宣言がなされました。間もなくあちこちで色々な種類の桜を見ることが出来るでしょう。

Do you know how its color turn out so beautiful?
It is told that the plants get through such a severe winter, the blossoms will come out the most beautiful ones.
どうしたら桜の花の色が美しくなるか知っていますか?
厳しい冬を過ごした木には最も美しい花が開くと言われているそうです。

Then think of recent Japan. I think it is absolutely "covered with severe winter." So when we get through all these hardship, I am sure we will be the best country in the world!!
Until then, we don't give up. Just like cherry blossoms, we are sure we will be back. And we will be much more improved by them!!
現在の日本の状況を考えてみてください。いま正に「厳しい冬の真っ只中」ではありませんか。ならば、この困難を乗り越えたら、私達の国は世界で最も素晴らしい国になるではありませんか!!
それまで諦めないで。必ず復興して桜のように美しく咲いて見せよう。そしてこれまで以上に素晴らしい国にして見せようじゃありませんか!!

毎年この時期は梅見の季節。

いつもなら青梅の吉野梅郷にでも出かけるのですが、ガソリンも手に入りにくいし、体調もイマイチで行かれません。しかも今回の地震の影響で、当地のお客はサッパリで、梅祭りは予定より早く打ち切りになってしまったそうです。キャンセルも続出だそうで、こちらも大打撃ですね。

Generally it's time for plum blossom season to go for. But there are some obstacles in the way. No gas, my bad condition.... Moreover, the earthquake's side effects. In fact, the plum fair that they have been held was ended up earlier than what they have planed. Lots of cancellation as well. One of these days!

そこで、以前行ったときの画像を再編集してみました。こんな時ですから、梅でも眺めて、癒しの一時を過ごしませんか？

So I re-edited the photos I've taken before. Since we have such hardship in eastern Japan. Why don't we enjoy the blossoms to make us smile?

先ずは越生梅林。こちらは吉野梅郷より少し早く開花します。

Here is the photo from O-go-se plum groves. They bloom a bit earlier than Yoshino-bai-go.

そして美味しい梅づくしの食事が頂けるのは梅の里九兵衛。ここで食事をした人は梅の香りのお風呂に入ることが出来ます。
You can enjoy not only the scenery but seasonal plum dishes at the restaurant named Ume no sato Kyu-bei (Japanese language only). They offer you complimentary plum flavored hot bath (Japanese style) there.

個人宅の庭かと思っていまいそうに、梅林が広がっています。

It seems as if someone's private area. Such how plum groves are everywhere.

I just add some more info about the radioactivity. I have got these data from my friend.
Here is the data of Ibaraki (茨城) that locates neighbor of Fukushima.

Data of Shinjuku, Tokyo(新宿)

The vertical line shows numerical data of radio activity.              
 Its units is "micro Sievert." Do NOT mix up with milli Sievert. 
The horizontal line shows the date.
So as "2011.3.15" means March 15, 2011.

Just have a look of the data.

After March 16, it stays between green line as you see. It surely says the numerical value stays in the safe zone.

I surely understand that we still have to be careful though. Right now, we are NOT in such serious condition.

Here are some additional explanation that are form the guy who gave me these data.

For those who visit here, please allow me to put a comment that those horizontal green lines show the provable distribution of usual radioactivity level, based on statistics obtained from the previous monitoring.

Right now it is NOT serious radiation effects at all.

Besides I have a friend who lives in Fukushima.

They are the pride of our country!

311 Earthquake hit Japan

Since the earthquake hit  northeast and east Japan, we have many damages in many situations.
But we have great courage in the face of such tragedy.
In fact we are cooperating each other under such mess.

No looting/plunder at all!!
(and it's just a normal/natural thing)

Snow again in March

It was a pretty warm day yesterday though. Too bad, it's snowy day in Tokyo. Yep, back to winter again.
So Terry keeps himself cozy with such cute outfit!
昨日はとても暖かだったのに、今日は冬に逆戻り。東京は雪が降っています。
そこでテリー君は可愛いお洋服で暖かくしています。

February 26 Incident

  February 26 in 1936 was one of Japanese historical turning point. On this day, about 1,5oo troops of the Army led to assassinate several Cabinet politicians. Then the government have had tight security for the Imperial Palace area and shut out all the gateways.

This  is February 26 Incident. After all Japan tended to militarism.

　１９３６年２月２６日は日本史上において大きな転換となった事件が起きました。この日、約１５００名の軍隊が内閣閣僚の暗殺を企てました。事件を受けて政府は、皇居周辺地域を封鎖し最大レベルの警備体勢を敷きました。

これが２．２６事件です。この後日本は軍国主義へと向かっていったのでした。

  This day was also unforgettable day for Ji-chan. It was the first day of his job Carrier. Because of the road block he could not reach even the gateway of his office. Since it was his first day so he didn't have the ID or any certification documents. He had no idea what to do. But when he had a security search at the checkpoint, he could fond the solution!

He reached a key in his pocket. It was the key for his locker room and showed the name of the office. Yes, he could get into the gate and got to his office. This experience may be a strong impression for him and never forgettable. He tells this story whenever February comes.

　この日は爺ちゃんにとっても忘れられない日となりました。その日は彼の仕事初出勤の日。しかし道路などが閉鎖されていたため、職場近くさえも辿り着くことが出来ません。なにしろこの日が初日ですから、辞令も身分証明書もありません。どうして良いか思案に暮れてしまいました。しかし検問所でその解決策を見つけることとなったのです!

手をやったズボンのポケットにロッカーの鍵があり、それには職場の名前が記されていたのです。無事検問所を通過し、職場に着く事が出来ました。この体験はよほど強烈な印象だったようで、２月が来ると、今だにその話をすのです。

  By the way, one of the Cabinet member as the Finance Minister, Korekiyo Takahashi was assassinated by them. It occurred at his house in Akasaka.

His house is brought over from there to Koganei Park.

It opens to public and we can get into the house. There is a scar of the samurai sword on a pillar that remains those days matter. The volunteer tour guide may explain the details of those matter there.

　ところで、閣僚の一人で当時の大蔵大臣、高橋是清も彼等に暗殺されました。彼の自宅は赤坂にありましたが、現在は小金井公園に移築され、一般開放されています。柱に残る刀傷が事件当時の様子を物語っているようです。ここではボランティアの案内が詳細を説明してくれます。

Bento for who?

Ji-chan loves bento so much so we have  "depa-chika bento" sometime in a while. The first photo is Kikunoi's bento named "Higashi-yama". The second one is from Minokichi's bento named "shun-sai" limited product.

爺ちゃんはお弁当が大好きなので、我が家では時々デパ地下弁当を買います。最初の写真は菊の井のお弁当「東山」。２番目は美濃吉の「旬采弁当」季節限定版です。

Lately I found that even though the ones are available for dogs.
You may be surprised that the bento is for dog! I have learned about it from the media so I've wanted to get the one since then. Finally I made it.
ところで、最近犬用の弁当を発見しました。皆さんは、犬用のお弁当があるなんてきっとビックリでしょうね。私はマスコミ情報でこの事を知って以来、買いたいと思っていました。そしてついに手に入れたのです！

It’s All So Crystal Clear

As I have purchased a dozen of glasses from Villeroy and Boch, I signed up a follower of their blog.

Tools for Defensive

We have very dry and cold winter in Tokyo area. We don't have any rain for over 25 days. It provides flu virus propagation. In fact, the flu is rampant among people everywhere by now.
So humidifiers are the necessary tools in our area. But it's not enough for virus protection. We may have some tools(or weapon?) against virus.
冬の東京は大変乾燥していて寒いのです。すでに２５日以上雨が降っていません。それがウイルスの増殖を引き起こします。事実、私の地域では現在インフルエンザが猛威をふるっている最中です。ですから加湿器は必要不可欠な道具なのです。しかしそれだけでは充分と言えないのです。やはりウイルスに対して何か道具（それとも武器？）が必要なのです。

Last season I got a new humidifier that came up with Plasuma Cluster function. I think it worked. In fact, my coworker has caught flu but I didn't. We worked in the same small room together so I was under such risky situation. But I didn't get any.
So I decided to get some more air purifier in this season to make it better.
昨シーズンにプラズマクラスター機能付きの加湿器を買いました。これがとても良く効いたのではないかと思います。実際、同僚がインフルエンザになりましたが私は大丈夫でした。かなり危ない環境にいたと言えるでしょうが、私達は狭い部屋で一緒に仕事をしていたのです。
そんな訳で今シーズンはさらに空気清浄機を買い足して、対策強化です。
The photo above is a portable air purifier. I can bring it with me anywhere. It also has rechargeable batteries.
上の写真はポータブルタイプの機種です。携帯電話よりやや大きい位で機動性に富んでいます。充電式です。
Besides, I got another one for my car. It can be charged in my car and can fit in the cup holders. Lately I use them everyday for such flu protection. Can it shield me from the threat?
そしてさらにもう一つ、車用のを買いました。車内で充電できカップホルダーに収まります。最近はこれらを全て使っています。インフルエンザの脅威から守ってもらえるかしら?

手順

1 Get one fresh tomato, oiled artichoke, mozzarella cheese and basil sauce.

新鮮なトマト、オイル漬けのアーティチョークとモッツアレラチーズを用意します。　

2 Chopped them (tomato, artichoke and mozzarella cheese) as your favorite size.

これらを好みの大きさに切ります。

3 Add basil sauce and it's READY!!

バジルソースをかけてハイ出来上がり!!

Either beer or wine can be a great partner.

ビールやワインが良きパートナーになりますよ。

O-se-chi Dishes 2011

There was a big trouble of O-se-chi dishes that Groupon Japan have faced. Here is the site that shows the troubled contents. According to the media, there were big difference between the sample photos and what the customer has received. It supposed to be illegal under Japan law. Now this case has been under investigation.
ご承知のように、お節料理に関して、日本のグルーポンで大問題が発生しました。こちらのサイトに示されているように、見本と受け取った実物が大きく異なり、日本の法律に抵触するおそれがあるとして現在調査・取り調べ中なのは周知の通りです。

To me it seemed very fishy smelled. If the customer would have researched other stores, they could have known it though...
思うに、購入者の方々が事前にもっと他店もリサーチしていたら、怪しいことに気付いたのではと・・・
（被害にあった方にはお気の毒ではありますが、そもそも箱詰めですぐに食べられる状態のお節は、配達したとしても販売・配送拠点から数キロ以内が常識で、その他は受け取りが基本。大手老舗でも数量はせいぜい200個ぐらいですから。箱詰めで500個も全国発送なんてねぇ・・・）


Anyway I didn't have such trouble so I should say I'm lucky.
This season, we had sort of Italian (or French?) tasted O-se-chi dishes.

まあとにかく、幸いにも私は被害に遭わずにすみ、ラッキーと言えるのでしょうね。
今シーズンはイタリアン(それともフレンチ風?)のお節を注文しました。昨年のお節はこちらです。

Here are the one I got at the shop. Compare the photo above. Absolutely same as each other. And of course the lest of other two were the same. This is what it should be!
以下の写真が購入した実物です。上の写真と比較してください。全く同じでしょう? あとの2つもサイトの写真と全く同じでした。これが当然あるべき形ですよね! They were all delicious! And they went well with French champagne we've had!
いずれも美味で、シャンペンと共においしく完食いたしました。

Auntie Anne's Japan

One of my favorite shop, Auntie Ann's has opened in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. I used to go there at LA branch but it's too far by now. I'm so glad I can have the one here in Tokyo.
お気に入りの店Auntie Ann's(Japanese language only)の支店が東京、池袋にオープンしました。ロサンゼルスでよく行っていたのですが、事情があって行かれない今は、とても遠くなってしまいました。
でも東京に支店が出来て嬉しいです。

My recommendation is plain Pretzels and cream cheese. They are the best combinations!
But I don't know if it's available in Tokyo's one. Since there were long line of people and I gave up to get into the shop.
私のお薦めは、プレーンにクリームチーズの組み合わせ。これ、もう最高です！
ただ、東京のお店に有るかは不明です。何しろ長い行列が出来ていたのでお店にはいるのは諦めてしまいましたから。

Yep, Terry had Lamb at his Christmas dinner. Just grilled them in the oven and cooled down for about a day. I'm sure he enjoyed it.
はい、テリー君はクリスマスにラム肉(つまりヒツジですね)を食べました。オーブンで焼いたあと、約1日かけて冷ましたのです。とっても美味しかったようですよ。

Before I would tell you the answer, just remind the main point that I meant. Remember the TV show. They ask you very difficult questions since the prizes are so gorgeous. Well, it's just like that. You guys can get such priceless kisses and hugs from these cool guys. So the question should be very hard.
