Terry's smile

Terry likes to eat out. We have such kind of restaurant. I mean, dogs and human can have meals at the same table. It is called "a dog cafe" and it's in everywhere. I should say, it's such hot spots to visit.

テリー君は食事に出かけるのが好きです。日本にはそう言うたぐいのレストランがあちこちにあります。つまり、犬と人間が同じテーブルで食事が出来るんです。「ドッグカフェ」と呼ばれています。近頃流行の場所ですね。
写真は軽井沢のドッグカフェでのものです。
テリー君の笑顔を見てください。
日本語版では以前に紹介したのですが、写真加工が出来なくて、一部にしか公開していませんでしたので、改めて紹介いたします。

Terry's Birthday

July 15 was Terry's 5th birthday. This year he had oven grilled lamb chops (and cooled it down, of course) instead of birthday cake. Why no cake? Simply because we didn't have a time to buy it.

He liked them all. The photo above shows him "chewing" lamb bone.

７月１５日はテリー君の５回目のお誕生日でした。今年はバースデーケーキの代わりにラムチョップスをオーブンで焼き（もちろん充分に冷ましてから）それをもらいました。何故ケーキが無いかって？買いに行く時間が無かったのです。

テリー君、ラムは大好きなんです。上の写真はラムボーンを(ガムのように)咬んでいる所です。

The first one is wearing judo jacket. He even has a black belt!? And with this photo, he passed through the audition of doggy fashion show. Yes, he walked through "cat walk" as a model!!
最初は柔道着姿です。しかも黒帯ですよ !? そしてこの写真でワンコファッションショーに応募し審査を通過しました。モデルとしてステージに立ち「キャットワーク」も歩きましたよ!

The second one shows that he experienced walking on snow for the first time in his life.　He wore a shirt under the raincoat for coldness protection.
２番目の写真は、生まれて初めて雪の上を歩いたときのものです。レインコートの下には防寒のためのシャツも着ているんですよ。

The third one is wearing a life jacket. He is ready for summer! I got it for him from suburbs of San Francisco. (spoiled dog!) Click here to see him in the doggy swimming pool! There are some motion pics also.

Fancy Toilet

I have had another house remodeling project again. I would say, the project #3. The toilet parts has done. I forgot to take a picture of its before though. It became so neat and nice. The bars on both side will be a big help when I'll get old.
I've wanted to have Washlet so far long. (Click Washlet and you may learn about it.) Lately, it has introduced in LA area also.
It was invented in Japan and we have lots more high spec models than its web site explanations for export use. Sort of like cellphone.
Anyway, I've just made it to have the one in my house!
再びリフォーム中の我が家です。プロジェクト３と名付けましょう。今回のプロジェクトの一つ、トイレ部門は終了しています。でも「ビフォアーアフター」みたいに工事前の写真を撮り忘れてしまいまして、完成後の写真のみです。とても綺麗に仕上がりました。両側の手摺りは、老後の大きな手助けとなるでしょう。
ずっと前から考えていたウォシュレットも付けました。これからの必需品だと思っています。ウォシュレットは携帯電話同様、日本が世界に先行していて、近年LAでも注目されていました。やっと我が家にもついたぞ！

I didn't pick up such high spec one. It was too much for me so I decided to have basic standard model instead. At their official web site, there are

不要な機能がありすぎでも無用の長物なので、高機能モデルではなく、ベーシックな物を選びました。メーカーのオフィシャルサイトに機能の説明がありましたのでここに紹介しておきます。全て日本語ですが、動画や図解で説明されているので分かり易いと思います。私の選んだ機能がおわかり頂けるかと思います。

I also had a radiator heating system for the room. It's the same one as we have at the first floor one. (This toilet is on the second floor.) It may protect us from both winter coldness and heat shock.
足元には、１階にあるのと同じヒーターを付けました。冬の寒さとヒートショック防止に役立つでしょう。

What should I do from now on? Keep on cleaning them every time?
Oh, that's the LAST thing I would do...... whoops!
さて、私が今後すべきことは何でしょう?この綺麗さを毎日保つためのお掃除？それは絶対無理な事ですワン・・・・(^^;)

Curry lunch meeting at Kagurazaka

It took so far long to upload this article though. I had Indian curry lunch meeting with my friends at Kagurazaka. I didn't have my camera so I have got them from the web sites.
Besides, I would introduce my friends' articles on their blogs. Please have a look.
記事を立ち上げるのにかなり時間が経ってしまいましたが、神楽坂で友人達とインドカレーを食べました。カメラが無かったので、写真はウェブから借用しています。同行した皆さんの記事があるブログを紹介しますのでご覧になって下さい。
Its name is "Omoi no ki". The owner is very friendly, attractive and polite person. The photo (from the web site) shows inside the restaurant. We had Dosa as our appetizer. Since it was lunch time so I picked a set menu that can have choices of three different curry. What did I have? Well, I don't remember.... whoops!
お店の名前は、「想いの木」。とても感じの良いオーナーさんが切り盛りする、店内の雰囲気はこんな感じです。（写真はウエブからの借用です。）
まずはドーサを前菜に、ランチタイムだったこともあり、セットメニューのカレーを注文しました。３種類のカレーを選ぶことが出来ます。私、何を選んだっけ？忘れちゃった・・・

It was incredible. We all had Tandoori chicken even after the curry dish. But I could have them all. Such how they were all tasty. Especially the chicken. I haven't had such tender soft one. I don't like too spicy food but it was just enough spice for me. Absolutely perfect! I go addictive! I have noticed such high quality cooks/chefs they have there.
それはもう驚嘆の世界でした。カレーの後にもかかわらず、皆タンドリーチキンを注文しました。でも私、シッカリ食べちゃいましたよ。何しろお料理はどれもみんな美味でした。特にチキンはもう最高。こんな柔らかなのは初めてです。私はあまり刺激の強い食べ物は好みではありません。でもこれは私に丁度良い辛さで、もう完璧！病みつきになりそうです。 厨房で働くインド人シェフ達のレベルがいかに高いかを思い知らされました。

Terry had a party also テリー君もパーティ参加

Just like we, the human have party, Terry had the one last November. I haven't written about him since last Halloween. Oh, it's been such a long long while! (The first photo below is from the Westie Party official site. all the other photos were taken by me.) At the party, there were almost 280 dogs gathered. Almost all of them were Westie, of course. Isn't it something?!


人間がパーティに参加するように、テリー君もパーティが昨年１１月にありました。 テリー君の記事はハローウィン以来すっかりご無沙汰になってしまいましたね。（下の写真がオフィシャルサイトからの写真です。その他の写真は私が撮影しました。）この回は、全部で２８０頭近くのワンコが集結していまして、ほぼ全てウエスティです。すごいでしょ？

Terry could see his friend, Rice, for the first time in a year. Well, his first priority is not a friendship but food!
一年ぶりにお友達のライス君と会いました。 でも目線は、友情よりおやつ！の食いしん坊テリーがバレバレです(笑)

So as met his other friend, Max. It's been a year since they met last time. Yes, just the same as Rice. The other one next to Terry supposed to be a compatriot (born from the same parents in different time) sister of Max, if I remember correctly. Since it was so far away, I don't remember it well.
そしてこちらのお友達も、ライス君と同じように、１年ぶりの再会を果たしたマックス君。その後ろにいる女の子は、確かマックス君の同胞姉妹のはずなんだけど、随分と時間が経ってしまって、チョット忘れちゃったんです(^^;)
マックス君、ライス君随分と時間が経っちゃってゴメンね。また今年の秋も会えるかな?　その前にドッグランで会えるといいな。

Sometime I miss American foods

I miss American foods once in a while. Then I would see the pics to remain them. Oh well, since these pics carry zero calorie. So it should be healthy!!
時々アメリカの食べ物が恋しくなります。そんな時はこうして写真を眺めます。何しろ写真ならカロリーゼロですから、とってもヘルシーなわけです！

The first pic is for my breakfast. It rather be a heavy one for me though. It's just a common one but a bit too much for me, however, it's chicken with vegie wrap and coffee. Very healthy.
最初の写真は私の朝食です。ごく普通のものなんですが、私にはチョットずっしり来ましたけれどね。チキンラップとコーヒーで、結構ヘルシーなものでした。

The second one is for my supper. 　I had free refill iced tea also. I had this with my friends. Do you recognize the size? The fork is normal size so you may know how big this hamburger is!
２番目は私の夕食です。友人達と一緒に食べました。一緒に飲み放題のアイスティーもありました。このハンバーガーのサイズが分かりますか？横にあるフォークは普通のサイズですから、いかに大きなハンバーガーかおわかりかと思います。

The third pic is for my lunch. I had it alone. You may think it must be healthy since it's shrimp salad. Oh well, it was such big amount. I was filled up so I couldn't have anything more.
こちらはランチです。この時は一人でした。シュリンプサラダのみだからヘルシーだろうって?いや～、かなりの量で、これだけで満腹になってしまい、他のものは食べられなかったんです。

The last one is for my snack. I got this pancake mix at Japanese grocery store. Of course I cooked them! I mean I missed Japanese taste at that time.
Oh well, I didn't have all of them at the same day, of course! I can’t have such big amount in a day.
最後の写真は私のおやつ(スナック)です。勿論、私が作ったんですよ！このパンケーキのもとは日本食材店で購入しました。だって、この時はチョット日本の味が食べたかったんです。

あ、これ、全て別の日に食べたものです。いくら何でも、こんなに沢山は、同じ日に食べられませんから。

Girls Talk Party at Shibuya いっちゃんのオフ会再び

六本木のオフ会

This time I didn't take any photos again. Why? Simply because I forgot to bring my camera with me. My cell phone has a camera though, the place was a bit dark and it seemed a bit hard to take such snap shots. So I gave up taking pics. But I knew what dishes we have had there.
今回も写真が全くありません。何故かって？単にカメラを持って行くのを忘れちゃったんです。携帯のがありますけど、会場がちょっと暗めで、撮すのは厳しそうだったので諦めました。でも出されたお料理は分かっています。

security camera

I have introduced a new security system in our house. This new one links with both our house phone and door phone. I mean it works through the telephone line to see who comes at the door. Besides, it has a picture recoding device and I can check who had come while my absence.
我が家に新しくセキュリティカメラを導入しました。これは電話とドアフォンに連動しています。つまり、電話回線を利用して玄関の来訪者をカメラで見ることが出来ます。そして私が留守の時に、誰が来たのかを画像で記録しておくことも出来るんです。

But there is one problem. The garage gate interrupts in view of the security camera.
しかし一つ問題があります。それは車庫の門扉がカメラの視野を遮ってしまっていることです。

This old gate has been ruined and couldn't open/close it anymore. So I had planed to get a new one sometime. I think now is the time!
古い門扉は錆び付いて閉開出来ないのでそのうち工事をしようと思っていまして、とうとうその時が来たようです。

Now I have many meetings for this gate construction and need to do paper works before we start it. It would be for tax reduction next year. I need so many process to work for the tax break but it's worth to go for.
今、新しい門扉の工事で色々なミーティングをしています。これは減税対策につながるので、書類作成が面倒なのですがその価値があります。

Ah, what a tough job.....!

New dining table

I got a new dining table today. It will be delivered on March 6. I was looking for a new one for a long while. Then the one has caught my eyes last week.

今日新しいダイニングテーブルをついに購入しました。３月６日に配達されます。ずっと探していたんです。そしたら先週、気に入ったのを見つけました！

The price was amazing! It costed 1/3 of the original price. How come it could be? It has little scratch on the side and has been shown at the store for a long while. It's nothing to me so I got it in such incredible price!
お値段も驚きで、元値のほぼ三分の一で購入しました。何でそんなお値段買って?それは展示品でチョットばかり傷があるからなんです。でもそんなことは私には全く問題ありません。この信じられないお値段で購入決定です！

Well, Terry has participated a poochy fashion show. So he never faced wrong dress code trouble as THAT Olympic athlete!
テリー君年齢３４歳まだまだイケイケ世代？！いつも楽しいことを追いかけて生きてます。そしてこんな風貌だそうです。

ところで、モデルとしてワンコのファッションショー出場経験もあるテリー君ですから、何処かのオリンピック選手のような服装問題はありませんよ。

Westie shaped cookie

I happened to find such cute Westie shaped cookie about two years ago. It was a free sample from the shop. I wanted to go there but it located far from my house. So I couldn't make it to go.
偶然この可愛らしいウエスティ型のクッキーに出会ったのは、およそ2年ほど前でした。お店からの無料見本だったのです。そのお店に行ってみたかったのですが、とても遠いので行かれませんでした。

Then they opened a branch near my area lately. I've already visited there several times. I had some chances to talk with the shop owner and the family.
ところが最近になって、私の住む地域の近くに支店が出来ました。それで既に何度かお店を訪れ、オーナーさんやご家族の方とお話しする機会もありました。

You may have a chance to see the owner's Westie dog named Kun-Kun. He is very friendly dog. He will give you a warm reception at the entrance!
He wears matching patterned scarf and sweater that were made by his owner. Very fashionable dog!
とってもフレンドリーなウエスティのクンクンはオーナーさんの愛犬。とっても人懐こいワンちゃんです。入り口でお客さんをお出迎えしてくれます。
お揃いのマフラーとセーターはオーナさんの手編み製。とってもお洒落なワンちゃんです。

Holiday Festive dishes

It's been so tough for me for last two years. So I wanted to redeem myself after my past two years. Yeap, I have a right to enjoy myself for amount of two years! Usually I don't have to work on Christmas day. But this year, because of oink flu I had to work even at the day. Besides I have my house remodeling (floor heating system) construction till December 30. So I totally give up to cook holiday dishes. Well, I should say that I could have a really good excuse....
Anyway, I couldn't have much time to prepare dinner at Christmas day so I purchased ready made stuffs. Oh, I forgot to take a pic of delicious cake. It tasted really good.
昨年までの２年間は本当に苦しいことばかりでした。ですから、今年の年末年始はこれまでの分を思いっきり楽しまなくてはと思っていました。でも今年は新型インフルエンザのせいで仕事がいつもより遅く、クリスマスにも休めない羽目になってしまって、その上、床工事が年末ギリギリ実施と言うこともあり、これ幸いと料理するのは放棄した私でした（笑）
クリスマス当日も仕事で、調理に時間がかけられないので、ほとんどの物はお店で購入しました。写真を撮り忘れましたが、ケーキも勿論食べましたよ。

Since my father wanted to have it and it is unusual in Japan. That's why I picked turkey legs as main dishes. Why legs only? Think of the size. Even a whole chicken is too much for our family. So the whole turkey is incredibly toooo much! Then I happened to find the legs at the store. So I got them and reheat in the oven. It was good.
メインは、爺ちゃんが食べたがったので、日本ではあまり馴染みのない七面鳥を購入しました。でもチキンでさえも丸ごとでは多すぎる我が家ですから、七面鳥を丸ごとでは、とうてい無理。幸いお店でターキーレッグを売っていたので、これを購入し、オーブンで温め直して食べました。


Here is the must have item, cranberry. I used caned one. It didn't cost much as the flesh one but tasted not so bad. My father liked it. The photo also shows Salmon Pate that is for appetizer.
Besides, December 23 of year 2009 was the day of the winter solstice. We have custom

to have kabocha squash and uzu citrus. It is believed to have these things on the day would make us healthy and can have long life. So I cooked kabocha squash soup. Actually the soup stock is leftover from the day before.

七面鳥と言えばクランベリーソース。これは缶詰を利用です。 一緒に写っている缶詰はサケのパテ。これをワインのつまみにしまし

た。そしてこの日は冬至でもあったので、日本の風習を取り入れてカボチャスープを作りました。
じつはこのスープ残り物再利用なんですけれどね。（笑）

What about citrus? See this pic. There are ham with citrus jero and Salmon Pate. I had wine of course. I also baked baguette. It is semi-ready made frozen one. So it was a piece of cake! But tasty. I always stock them in the freezer.
柚子の方は、ハムのゼリー寄せ。それにサケのパテはワインのつまみです。それからフランスパンを焼きました。写真は忘れました。このパンは冷凍物をオーブンで焼いただけ。簡単なのに、美味しくて、冷凍庫にいつもストックしてあります。

I think I am lucky one because I can have both Christmas dinner and our traditional New Year's dishes. Or I should say I am greedy!? Anyway, I ordered the traditional one this time instead of house made one. Since I have had my house construction so it rather be difficult to cook at home.
What did I picked? It is called Osechi. Sort of like bento boxes I have shown before. Oh well, it one of the best I have ever had. It is from "Yaozen" that is known as the very best restaurant in the history of Edo period (1603 - 1868).
今年のお節は、工事があったので家での手作りはする予定がありませんでした。で、どうせならと豪華にキメました。江戸時代にその名を轟かせた料亭、八百善のお節を思い切って注文しちゃいました。
クリスマスのご馳走のみならず、伝統の日本料理もシッカリ食べた私って欲張り?! それとも果報者?

"Yaozen" used to run their business as the restaurant at "Edo Tokyo Museum" until 2004. Now they closed this section and have catering one only. My father was looking forward to have it. Since he knew how great it is. It costed a lot though, I think it was worth to pay for. Because he was so pleased by that.
八百善は2004年まで江戸東京博物館内にレストランを出していましたが、今は仕出しのみなのだそうです。爺ちゃんはこれをとても楽しみにしていました。この店がとても有名で凄いことを知っていたんです。お値段もすごかったですが、喜んでいる爺ちゃんの姿を見たら、それだけの価値はあったと思っています。

I chose traditional Osechi that comes with three boxes. Each box has various kinds of traditional festive food. Each ones　have episodes or some meaning though, I don't know much about them. Just one thing I can say is; "So delicious!!!"
This is the first box called "Ichi no ju".
お節は伝統的な三段重を選びました。それぞれの品に謂われがあるのですが、情けない事にあんまりよく分かっていません。まあ、ただ一つ言えることは、「美味しい!!」と言うことです。
こちらが一の重です。


Second one called "Ni no ju".
そして二の重。

Third one called "San no ju".　I can't make it as good as this one!
三の重。お煮染めなんて、私はこんなに美味に出来ません!

I love sweets. This time I chose French cuisine, Galette des Rois. It comes with whole pie with a crown. According to them, there is a small ornament called "heureux gagnant" inside the pie. If you win it, you will have a happy year around. So put the crown on your head and cerebrate the happiness. They said that there is an almond instead of ornament somehow.　

私は甘い物も大好きです。そこで今回はフランス式新年お祝いのお菓子、ガレットデロワをデザートにしました。これは丸ごとのパイに王冠が付いてきます。そしてパイの中にはフェブと呼ばれる小さな陶器が入っていて、それを引き当てた人はその年幸運が訪れるそうで、この王冠をかぶってお祝いします。お店によれば、諸般の事情により、陶器ではなくてアーモンドが一粒だけ入っているとのことでした。

I have had another house remodeling project. This time I have planed a floor heating system. We used to use "kotatu" that had kept our legs warm. But it doesn't work for my father anymore since he uses a wheel chair. So I decided to have wooden floor with heater that can fit to his situation.
The photo on the left shows a process of floor heating construction.
水回りをリフォームしたばかりの我が家ですが、再び新たなるプロジェクトを立ち上げました。今回は床暖房設備です。以前は掘り炬燵で足元が暖かい生活をしていましたが、爺ちゃん（父）が車椅子になって、これまでの状態では不都合になってしまったからです。左の写真は床暖房事中の写真です。

It took three days and has done on December 30! We could have warm nights before New Year's Day. It may be a Holiday Gift (Xmas? or New Year's one called "otoshidama"?) for our family.

工期は３日間で１２月３０日に無事終了しました！新年を前に暖かい夜を過ごすことが出来るようになりました。これって、ホリディギフトですね！(クリスマスプレゼント？お年玉かも？）

いや～、快適ですな！

I also introduced a heater for my father's room. He used to use an air conditioner. But the new one has much more power to keep it warm and much safer than before. He said he liked the new one a lot.

Well, lets ask "his" opinion again. How do you like this, Terry?

そして爺ちゃんの部屋にも、床暖房と同じ方式（セントラルヒーティング）で部屋を暖めるヒーターを付けました。これまで使用していたエアコンよりもずっとパワーがあって、快適なようです。それに安全度も格段増しました。爺ちゃんもとても気に入ったようです。

では再びテリー君にご意見を伺ってみましょう。(笑)

Happy New Year!!
I haven't renew my web page for such long while. I have been busy since then. I had to care about paper work after my mother's passing. Then I had to plan another house remodeling. Now I have a nice floor heating system in my house! It keeps us so warm in such cold days.

新年明けましておめでとうございます。
随分と長い間、記事を更新していませんでした。母が亡くなり、相続の事などでずっと忙したったのです。それが済んだと思ったら、再び我が家の住宅改修計画をしなければなりませんでした。そして今はとても素敵な床暖房設備が完成しました。お陰で、この寒い日々も温かく過ごしています。

Terry's Halloween テリー君のハロウィーン

It's Halloween day today!
So Terry got another toys. Being spoiled as usual....
今日はハロウィーン。テリー君は、底なし親バカのおばちゃんから、またオモチャをもらいました。

This year's pumpkin is a bit funny. There is a chick inside the pumpkin. Terry liked to play with such pull out kind ones.　He is really good at pulling out such stuffs.
今年のカボチャはちょっと面白くて、中にヒヨコが入っています。テリーはこの手のオモチャがとても好きなんですよ。
しかも中身を出すのも上手に出来ます。


First of all, he is begging for his new toy.
まずは「新しいオモチャを下さい」とのおねだり。

Then he hide it and keeps away from anyone else.
そして大事なオモチャをとられないように、しっかり小屋に隠してから遊びます。
Nice butt, you Dudo!!
旦那、いい尻してますなぁ～！！

Sometimes he watches toward the entrance and make sure there are no enemies around there. (Who is the enemy by the way?)
時々入り口の方を見て、敵(一体誰のこと?）がいないか確認します。
After all, he goes back to play with it... I'd rather say "work for destroy it!"
It will be apart each pices in a few minutes or so... Oh, boy!
そして再びオモチャと遊びます・・と言うより、壊しにかかります。
