Soon to be a cold beer season

Although it was a bit chilly today, it's already May and soon to be a cold beer season!
Ah, I want to have some beer! Also some mussels with.
今日は少し寒かったですが、既に5月。じきにビールの季節であります!
あ～、飲みたい!　ムール貝をつまみにね。

We make beer cold but I've heard that they don't make it cold in England. Why? Is it because the weather is colder than Japan?
聞くところによるとイギリスでは日本のようにビールを冷やさないらしいです。何故だろう? 日本よりも寒いからかな?

The Children's Day

勿論、この方です。

May 5 is the Children's Day and we have such fish called "koi (koi-nobori)" for the ornament. Well, it's for dog's one though.
５月５日はこどもの日で、「鯉」と呼ばれるこのような飾りをします。ま、これはワンコ用ですけど。

Something Incredible

On May 2, someone rang my house doorbell.
To my surprise, it was a policeman. Yes, a real detective officer! According to him, there was a robbery case happened in my neighbour so he was waking around and getting information about the crime. Since it happened at midnight so I could not be any help.
５月２日に来訪者がありました。驚いたことに、本物の刑事でした！近所で泥棒があり聞き込み捜査中なのだそうです。しかし起きたのは真夜中で、何も役に立てませんでした。

This is the first time I've seen a real ID of the officer. It was like a movie.... I should say, movies copied it anyway.
So I told about it to my best friend by on-line chat. Then she mentioned another big news. It was about 11:45 in Tokyo time, she said a news flash of "Osama Bin Laden was killed." At that time we didn't have much details. Now it became such a big one and runs around the world.
Ah, what a incredible surprise day!
本物の警察手帳を見たのは初めてでした。何だか映画みたいな・・いや、映画がそれを真似ているわけで・・
そんな訳でこのニュースを（米国の）親友にチャットで話していたら、向こうからとんでもないニュースが飛び込んできました。東京時間の午前１１時４５分頃だったと思います。向こうのニュース速報でビンラディン容疑者の殺害を伝える第１報が入ったとのことでした。その時点で私達はまだ詳細を知りませんでしたが、後にこんな大きなニュースとなって世界中を駆けめぐるとは！
全く驚きの日でした!

The First Reunion, over 30 years since then

I have had very nice reunion for over 30 years since then. We used to be a classmate of a school. We have kept correspondence by a new years card though. Just didn't have a chance to see each other. Then we could have a meeting by a chance.

３０余年ぶりに素敵な再会を果たしました。かつて私達はある学校のクラスメイトでした。ずっと年賀状のやり取りはしていましたが、中々会う機会がありませんでした。そして今回、そうした機会に恵まれたのです。

 

We had lunch together here.

皆でここの昼食を共にしました。

Also we had tea and sweets at "Afternoon Tea Living." It's one of popular spot there. Apple pie is one of the recommendation.
And of course, we enjoyed talking.
それから、人気のスポット「アフタヌーンティーリビング」でお茶とケーキも。このアップルパイ、ここのイチオシです。
そして勿論、おしゃべりの花も満開でした。

Short vacation at Lake Yamanaka

Terry went to Lake Yamanaka again. We've visited here  and  stayed there about half a day.

テリー君、再び山中湖へ行きました。そして こちらに半日ほど滞在しました。

Terry likes to eat at the restaurant. It doesn't sound like dog though. Anyway we had lunch. 

テリーはレストランで食事するのが好きです。チョット犬とは思えないですけどね。とにかくこちらでお昼にしました。

At the entrance of the restaurant, there was such cute waiter welcomed us.
レストランの入り口で、こんな可愛いウエイターが私達を歓迎してくれました。

Terry had this.

Terry's Mama (my sister) had this.

テリーママ（姉）はこれでした。

And of course, Terry played. This time he played both outdoor and indoor playground but I took indoor pics only.

そして勿論、遊びました。今回は屋外、屋内両方で遊んだのですが、写真は屋内だけしか撮りませんでした。

The indoor one surely used to be tennis court. See the light on the right photo. You find such old tennis ball there.

屋内ドッグランは間違いなくかつてはテニスコートでした。右上写真の電灯を見てください。随分と古いテニスボールが見えるでしょう?

Anyway, he seems so happy.

とにかくテリー君はとても楽しそうでした。

Edible flowers

 

Is cherry blossom edible flower? I guess so. It needs some process before you have though.
桜は食用花(エディブルフラワー)だと思いますか? 私はそう思います。ただしその前に、少しプロセスが必要ですけれど。

Here are some edible cherry blossoms. Here is sweet jellied Sakura with real blossom and leaves.
こちらがその例でしょう。桜の花と葉入りの水羊羹です!

And here is sakura-mochi sweets. It reminds us of the cherry blossoms photos on top of this article.
それから桜餅。これは冒頭の桜をイメージしているのがよく分かりますね。

We even have cherry blossom tea.
桜茶もありますよ。

Hana-Maturi

Do you know what we have in April 8?
4月8日が何の日か知っていますか?

It is called Hana-Maturi. It stands for Buddha's birthday, however, it doesn't have such religious taste any more. It's just about cherry blossom season also. So lots of people think of the day as simply flower (means hana in Japanese language) festival at temples.
この日は花祭りと呼ばれていて、お釈迦様の誕生日に由来すると言われていますが、宗教色は殆どありません。この時期はまた桜(ソメイヨシノ)の季節でもあるので、単にお寺の花のお祭りと思っている人も多いそうです。

OK. Let's walk around the temple. Walk along the path and you will see a big  temple bell that is like the chiming of the church bell. It sounds very different though. 

では境内を歩いてみましょう。そうするとお寺の鐘が見えてきます。ちょうど(キリスト)教会にある鐘の様なものです。音は随分違いますけど。

Then you will see a tiny annex in front of the main building. The one with flower decorative. This is the place where you can meet the statue of little Buddha.

母屋の前に小さな別館が見えてきます。花の装飾が施された物です。ここで小さなお釈迦様の像にお目にかかれます。

He points to the heaven. It should be something important but I don't know the details. If you want to know more about it, I'd recommend you to ask someone who is a serious Buddhist. Not me, sorry!

Anyway, there is a ceremony of pouring amacha (sweet tea) into the statue. (Don't ask me of its meaning!!)

彼は天を指さしています。特別な意味があるらしいのですが、残念ながら私には分かりません。詳しく知りたい方は、熱心な仏教徒に聞いてくださいね。まあとにかく、儀式として銅像に甘茶を注ぎます。(詳細は聞かないでくださいよ!!)

You will be given the sweet tea and rice cookie. Jut like a mass of Catholic church, may be?

そして甘茶とかき餅を頂けます。ちょうどカトリック教会(の儀式)の様なものでしょうかね?

春を観賞するのと賞味するのと どちらがいいですか?　私ですか?

So I went to see some more cherry blossoms at Sayama lake the other day. There is a nice Italian restaurant there also. It's a popular one, however, I could get my seat without a reservation. Lucky me!

というわけで狭山湖に桜を見に行ってきました。そこにはとても人気のイタリアンレストランもあります。幸運にも予約しないで席を確保できました。

 The photos above show the restaurant interior. I enjoyed cherry blossoms from my seat.

上の写真は店内。私の席は窓越しに桜が見えます。

Then the dishes were brought to me. The first one was salad.

そして料理が運ばれてきました。先ずはサラダ。

The main dish was grilled chicken with red wine sauce.

そしてメインはワイン風味ソースのグリルチキン。

 I picked tiramisu as my desert.

デザートはティラミスを選びました。

In the end, I enjoyed coffee with such relaxing time.

Oh, what a wonderful moment!!

そして締めくくりはコーヒーで極上のリラックスタイム。

ああ、もう最高!!　　　　　　　　　　　　　

Costco Problem still

It's been more than a month since 311 earthquake. There were some deaths at Costco in Tokyo. See this site.
Also lot of cars have been buried inside the building still.
３月１１日の地震発生以来既に一ヶ月以上経過しています。東京にあるコストコでも死者が出ました。こちらをご覧下さい。
そしていまだに顧客の車が建物内に残されたままです。
But it happened in this place only. They said that this significant damage was caused form the earthquake of  311. I do NOT take their announcement. 
In fact, any other neighbor buildings, includes right next ones, have NO damages at all. NOT even a crack.
Why only at Costco building?
We all suspect illegal constructions. Otherwise it does not make sense.
But there aren't any more cover stories since then. Did they use a power to control the media?
I like Costco so this matter made me really disappointed.
しかしこれ(崩落事故)が起きたのはこの場所だけです。ホームページによれば東関東大震災による「甚大な被害」とのことですが、私はこれを鵜呑みにすることは出来ません。
実際、すぐ隣のビルを含めた近隣の建物には全く被害は出ていません。
何故コストコだけで起きたのでしょうか?
違法建築を疑わざるをえません。調査を開始したとの報道がありましたが、以来全く報道されていません。何らかの力を使って情報操作でもしているのでしょうか?
お気に入りの店だけに、大変失望しています。

Battery Charging Under the Sun!

It was fine clear day so I put these tools under the sun. I had 3 searchlights but 2 of them had broken down while we had cut backs. But it's hard to get new ones at a store now. So I got them from USA by mail order.

とても良い天気だったので、これらを太陽光下に置きました。懐中電灯は３本あったのですが、２本が停電中に壊れてしまいました。でも、現在それらを購入することは困難です。そこでアメリカからメールオーダーで取り寄せました。

Since we have Fukushima power plant problem, we face to cut back frequently. But their initial action made people in panic. Why? Because they announced about "the cut back" in a last minute!
福島原発の問題のため、計画停電が行われています。しかしその初動対応は我々にパニックを引き起こしました。
何故パニックか?　それはこの無計画な停電計画を実施直前に発表したからです。
　
It was absolutely "last minute" matter. In fact we have learned about the cut back the night before but we were not sure which area would would start first.
They said they divided the area into some groups but none of us knew which group we would belong to. How come we could know?
停電のことを知らされたのは実施される前夜という、本当に直前になってからでした。グループ分けした地域で翌日早朝から実施との発表でしたが、自分の地域がどのグループに属するのか、全く周知されていない状態です。一体どうやって、所属グループを知ればいいんですか?

The only info they have given to us was a phone number and web site. Neither of them could work. They didn't think of localized torrential access phenomenon.

What kind of fool are they?

東電の電話番号１つとサイトアドレスのみが記されているだけで、私も情報を得ようとアクセスを試みましたが、全く繋がりませんでした。アクセスが集中・殺到することを考えなかったのでしょうか?　愚かにも程がありますね。

We had no time to prepare for. That's how people have cornered the market in substitute lighting things. Almost all of flash lights, candles, portable cook stove and portable radio have sold out in everywhere within a day.
What the government said was, "don't be in panic."
Ha! Who made us so? They are total aero-heads. I can't believe why they are in top positions of the government and the power plant company.
The workers on the spot at the plants are the most courageous ones in the world though. What a gap between them! Lamentable!!
私達地域住民には準備の時間は全くありませんでした。人々が停電時、明かりの 代用品を懸念するのは当然の成り行きでしょう。周辺全ての店で、懐中電灯、ロウソク、カセットコンロや携帯ラジオなどが、その日の内に売り切れになりました。それでも政府の言い分は「パニックにならないように」とのこと。
一体誰がその原因を引き起こしているんですか! こんな「オツムの中身が??」な人達が政府や東電のトップだなんて信じられないです。
現場で命がけで働いている世界一勇敢な人々とは大違いです。全く情けない!!

Give battery on those who aero-heads and charge them!!
誰かこの空っぽ頭にも(頭脳の）電池を与え充電してください!

While I was writing this article, they announced that the cut back may be end soon. I know we still need to save the power as much as possible.
この記事を書いている間に、計画停電はまもなく終息に向かうとの発表がありました。でも、引き続き節電はしないといけませんね。

Terry has got a diaper

Yes, he got a diaper! Not for aged nursing care.

He had diarrhea and threw things up the other day. So Terry's Mama took him to vet. Poor Terry got three different kinds of shots and was given a prescription.  According to vet, poor boy got some food that he couldn't accept.

テリー君、おむつ着用でしたけど、介護犬ではありませんよ。
先日、下痢と嘔吐があり、テリーママが獣医さんに飛んでいきました。可哀相なテリー君は３本も注射をされたうえ、お薬も処方されてしまいました。

獣医さんによると、何か受け付けない食品を食べた為だろうということでした。

Well, my house was awfully bad.... Think of its smell. It was absolutely HELL!!!!! AAAHHHH!!!

So I sprayed deodorizer everywhere.
Now he is recovered. But the room smells so stinky skunky still!!

それにしても、私の家が酷いことに・・・その臭いときたら、もう最悪!!!　ぎゃ～～～!!!

家中に消臭スプレーしまくりでしたよ。

今はすっかり快復したテリー君ですけど、お部屋の方はまだクチャ～い!!

Oh well, even though his diaper can be as his new fashion?

それにしても、おむつでさえニューファッションに見えませんか?

Somei-yoshino

Somei-yoshino is a kind of cherry blossom and it has just begun to bloom.

 ソメイヨシノは桜の花の種類です。今丁度咲き始めています。

So I can see such beautiful ones everywhere in a moment. But I don't know if I go to see them there. So I picked up some photos that I've taken before.

間もなくあちこちでこの美しい花を見ることが出来るでしょう。でも私は花見に行かれるか分かりません。そこで以前に撮影した写真を載せてみました。

If I can make it, I would go to my favorite restaurant named Mame-raku  (Japanese language only). It has the best position to enjoy the blossoms as the photo below.

もし出来れば、お気に入りのレストラン豆らくに行きたいです。ここには下の写真にあるように、花を楽しむのに最高の場所があるのです。
