New Pasta Pot

I purchased a new pasta pot lately. It's so shiny and reflects the things that I don't want to show off.
Before I made the decision, I have compared with other kind. The photo below is the one that is from its official site. It seemed so nice and I still want to have it. May be some day.
先日パスタポットを買いました。鏡のようにピカピカで（室内の）見せたくないものまで映ってしまっていますけどね。
これに決める前に比較したのが下の物です。写真はメーカーのオフィシャルサイトからです。とても素敵で、いつかこれも買えたらと思っています。

Anyway, it comes with a colander that can hold pasta or noodles.
今回購入したポットには、パスタなど麺類用にザル状の内鍋が付いています。

The best part of the pot is;  NOT boil over at all.
そしてこのポットの凄いところは、噴きこぼれないことなんです。

So I cooked spaghetti. The pasta holder is also great. I haven't had this kind so I now really like them all.
早速スパゲッティを茹でてみました。パスタホルダーも使い勝手が良く、重宝しています。このような道具を持っていなかったので、とても気に入りました。

I cooked the pasta sauce while I was boiling water.

Now it's time to EAT!!

お湯を沸かしている合い間にパスタソースも作りました。

An Inspiration bursts on Ji-chan?

My friend sent me such nice gift the other day. I would have it with something good so I have saved it for a while.
It is instant Japanese style soup. They are simple and easy but very tasty.
Just pour hot boiling water and it's ready.
先日お友達からこんなプレゼントを頂きました。折角だから美味しいものと一緒に頂こうと思ってとっておきました。
熱いお湯を注ぐだけで出来る、 インスタントの和風汁ですが簡単でとても美味しかったです。

I had this soup with Bento. And the story of getting Bento is something amazing.

このお汁をお弁当と一緒に頂きましたが、その経緯が驚きなのです。 

It was a morning of June 1.
Ji-chan suddenly mentioned about his dream of last night. According to him, he won a lottery with a big amount of cash. The key number is 4 and I suggested him the number. Well, I didn't know it at all though. Since it's his dream.

him that II told  will get the ticket on the way back home in the afternoon. I was off to work at that time.

それは６月１日の朝でした。

爺ちゃんが突然、昨夜見た夢の事を話し始めました。何でも宝くじで大金を当てたのだとか。鍵となる番号は４で、それを私が勧めたのだそうな。私には全く覚えがありませんけどね。ま、彼の夢の中ですから。

そこで、午後、帰り道でくじを買ってくるからと話しました。ちょうど仕事に出ようとしていた時だったものですから。

At the ticket booth, I picked up the forth ticket (scratch one) and took it home.
I showed it to Ji-chan and revealed it. Then I found that we won the forth prize of 5,000 yen!!

Oh well, he said "a big amount". What about this part? I thought... then I realized a fact.

To reach 50,000,000 yen, we need FOUR more zeros!!
Ah, this is the life....boo,hoo,hoo....
くじ売り場で(インスタント)の４番目を買い帰宅しました。
爺ちゃんにそれを見せてくじを削ると、４等で5,000円の当選でした!!

でも確か、大金って言ってなかったかな？考えているうちにある事実に気付きました。

50,000,000円には0が4つ足りないんです!!

あ～、これが現実ですね。トホホ・・

Anyway, it's better than nothing. He wanted to have something delicious. So I got his favorite Bento for us. I forgot to take the photo so I use the one from its official site.

それでも何もないよりはマシ。爺ちゃんは何か美味しいものを食べたいというので大好きなお弁当を買うことにしました。写真を撮り忘れてしまったので、このお店のオフィシャルサイトから写真を借用しました。

Now I am expecting Ji-chan to have another inspiration.
爺ちゃんにまた霊感が宿るといいのですけれどね。

Purchased a Chopper!

I've purchased a new "chopper" lately.
Not a helicopter, however, it looks like the one!
新しいチョッパー(英語でヘリの意味もある)を買いました。
ヘリコプターじゃありませんけれど、似ていますね!

So I cooked some with my new tool. It works great and I like it a lot.
It can chop onion and carrots into small pieces in a second! So fast.
新しい道具で早速調理してみました。タマネギと人参が数秒でみじん切りになりました。本当に「早い～!」
とても気に入りました。

I've got more amount than I've planed so I have had two different dishes.

思った量より多く出来てしまったので２品作りました。

They are stuffed cabbage and meatball soup. Oh well, I was going to cook  Ratatouille though....

ロールキャベツ(チョット不格好だけど)とミートボールスープ。本当はラタトゥイユを作るつもりだったのですけどね・・・

Darjeeling First Flash Tea

As I have had my breakfast at a restaurant one weekend, I saw the sign of "Darjeeling First Flash." I didn't know anything about English tea before. Then I've learned a little bit from a lady who has English tea lessons on her blog(Japanese language only) articles. So I'm very curious and decided to try the tea.
週末に朝食を食べに行ったファミレスで、「ダージリンファーストフラッシュ」なる看板を見かけました。以前は紅茶のことなど全く知りませんでしたけど、紅茶教室を開いていらっしゃる方のブログ記事からそのことを知り、とても興味があったので早速試してみました。

I was surprised that the leaves have green colors. In my idea, it should be brown color though. It seemed like Japanese green tea to me.
とても驚いたのは、茶葉が緑色だったことです。紅茶は茶色だと思っていましたから。私には日本茶のように見えました。

Well, the taste is.... just English tea!
それでお味は・・・やっぱり紅茶でした！

Fashion Bug?!

There are stores named "Fashion Bug" in the USA.
Here is not "fashion bug" BUT "fashion dog!!"
アメリカには「ファッションバグ」という(衣料品の）店がありますが、これはそのファッションバグではなくて、ファッションドッグです!!

How do you like his fashion?

Sushi Cake?!

Since I mixed up the photos, I rewrote my previous articles. Please have a look.
前出の記事に間違いがあり書き直しましたので、そちらもご覧下さいね。

Just made "sushi-cake." Does it look good?
Well, most parts are "left over" kind though. It tasted good!
寿司ケーキを作りました。出来栄えどうでしょうか?
大部分はいわゆる残り物なんですけどね。味はバッチリでしたよ!

Anyway I had a good wine for a main thing. It was given by my friend in US for a while ago. I think it's hard to get the one in domestic Japan. Does anyone know where I can get it?
On my previous article, I made a mistake. I had "Sonoma" with sushi cake but I mixed up these photos.

その代わり、ワインはチョット贅沢に。米国の友人がずっと前にプレゼントしてくれたソノマワインです。国内ではあんまり手に入らないかも？誰か入手できるところを知っていますか?
前出の記事で間違いがありました。ソノマワインはこの寿司ケーキで飲んだのでした。画像が入れ替わっちゃって、そのまま間違えてしまいました～。

Double roasted lamb

I got some roast lamb at a store. It was ready to eat however, I made it roast again. Why? There was a food poisoning at a "yaki-niku (Japanese style BBQ) restaurant" lately and I was a bit scared by meat color. It seemed as if fresh raw kind. So I cooked again for sureness.

ローストラムを買いました。すぐに食べられる状態に調理済みでしたが、もう一度焼きました。何故かって? 最近焼き肉レストランで食中毒事件が起き、肉の色を見たらチョット怖くなってたんですね。だって生っぽいんだもの。そんなわけで念のため再加熱です。

I mixed up the photos by my mistake. So I rewrite from this part below. I had this Bordeax with the roast lamb. I like this casual one.

I had a chance to join a lecture that was organized by Japan sommelier association. The chairman, in those days, Mr Takahashi introduced us many details about wine.

Until then, I thought that Bordeax supposed to be something classy. It wasn't true. In fact, this one that he recommended for daily use goes well with many kinds of dishes.  

After all I have had the ones more often than before. 

I don't know much about wine, however, this experience was so useful for me. 

ワインの写真を間違えてしまったので、この部分以下を書き直しました。 ラムに合わせたのはこのボルドーワインでした。このカジュアルワイン気に入っています。

かつて日本ソムリエ協会が主催した会合に参加したことがあります。当時の協会長、高橋さんがボルドーワインについての詳細を色々説明してくださいました。

それまで私はボルドーはとても敷居の高い代物だと思っていたのです。認識不足でした。実際、彼が勧めてくれたこのワインは日常の多くの料理と相性が良いのです。

それ以来、これまでよりもボルドーワインを飲む機会が増えました。
ワインのことは詳しくありませんが、この経験がとても役に立っていると思います。

Orange juice and Rose hip tea.

This is one of my favorite restaurant (Japanese language only). Their original recipe of orange juice and Rose Hip tea is one of the best. So I had a breakfast with the tea the other day.
ここはお気に入りのレストランの１つです。こちらのオリジナル、ローズヒップティーが気に入ってます。ここで朝食を食べたときの写真です。

Since the tea became popular among my friends, I'd upload this article on my blog.
何しろここのオリジナルレシピが、友人達の間で評判だったので、ブログ記事にすることにしました。

Here is the process.
では作り方です。
1 Have hot Rose Hip tea and orange juice.
1 ホットローズヒップティとオレンジジュースを用意します。

2 Fill up the glass with crushed ice.
2 グラスをクラッシュアイスで一杯に満たします。
3 Pour orange juice for one third of its total amount.
3 オレンジジュースを全体の３分の１量注ぎます。

4 Then pour Rose Hip tea gently. Add liquid sugar if you want to.
4 ローズヒップティーを静かに注ぎます。好みでガムシロップを入れます。

That's all!
It contains lots of vitamin C. Very healthy. I like it a lot.
これだけです!!
ビタミンCも豊富でとってもヘルシー。気に入ってます。

Here is my other favorite menu, "California Taco Salad."
もう一つのお気に入りメニューの「カリフォルニアタコサラダ」。

Soon to be a cold beer season

Although it was a bit chilly today, it's already May and soon to be a cold beer season!
Ah, I want to have some beer! Also some mussels with.
今日は少し寒かったですが、既に5月。じきにビールの季節であります!
あ～、飲みたい!　ムール貝をつまみにね。

We make beer cold but I've heard that they don't make it cold in England. Why? Is it because the weather is colder than Japan?
聞くところによるとイギリスでは日本のようにビールを冷やさないらしいです。何故だろう? 日本よりも寒いからかな?

The Children's Day

勿論、この方です。

May 5 is the Children's Day and we have such fish called "koi (koi-nobori)" for the ornament. Well, it's for dog's one though.
５月５日はこどもの日で、「鯉」と呼ばれるこのような飾りをします。ま、これはワンコ用ですけど。

Something Incredible

On May 2, someone rang my house doorbell.
To my surprise, it was a policeman. Yes, a real detective officer! According to him, there was a robbery case happened in my neighbour so he was waking around and getting information about the crime. Since it happened at midnight so I could not be any help.
５月２日に来訪者がありました。驚いたことに、本物の刑事でした！近所で泥棒があり聞き込み捜査中なのだそうです。しかし起きたのは真夜中で、何も役に立てませんでした。

This is the first time I've seen a real ID of the officer. It was like a movie.... I should say, movies copied it anyway.
So I told about it to my best friend by on-line chat. Then she mentioned another big news. It was about 11:45 in Tokyo time, she said a news flash of "Osama Bin Laden was killed." At that time we didn't have much details. Now it became such a big one and runs around the world.
Ah, what a incredible surprise day!
本物の警察手帳を見たのは初めてでした。何だか映画みたいな・・いや、映画がそれを真似ているわけで・・
そんな訳でこのニュースを（米国の）親友にチャットで話していたら、向こうからとんでもないニュースが飛び込んできました。東京時間の午前１１時４５分頃だったと思います。向こうのニュース速報でビンラディン容疑者の殺害を伝える第１報が入ったとのことでした。その時点で私達はまだ詳細を知りませんでしたが、後にこんな大きなニュースとなって世界中を駆けめぐるとは！
全く驚きの日でした!

The First Reunion, over 30 years since then

I have had very nice reunion for over 30 years since then. We used to be a classmate of a school. We have kept correspondence by a new years card though. Just didn't have a chance to see each other. Then we could have a meeting by a chance.

３０余年ぶりに素敵な再会を果たしました。かつて私達はある学校のクラスメイトでした。ずっと年賀状のやり取りはしていましたが、中々会う機会がありませんでした。そして今回、そうした機会に恵まれたのです。

 

We had lunch together here.

皆でここの昼食を共にしました。

Also we had tea and sweets at "Afternoon Tea Living." It's one of popular spot there. Apple pie is one of the recommendation.
And of course, we enjoyed talking.
それから、人気のスポット「アフタヌーンティーリビング」でお茶とケーキも。このアップルパイ、ここのイチオシです。
そして勿論、おしゃべりの花も満開でした。
